 IPL 2022 retentions were announced by the 8 teams and a total of 27 players were retained. Ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction, the 8 teams were asked to retain a maximum of 4 players in their squad. Out of these 4 players, there can be a maximum of 3 domestic players, 2 overseas players, and 2 uncapped players.

Out of the 27 players that were retained by 8 franchises, there are 19 domestic players and 8 foreign players. There were also 4 uncapped players. The left-handed batsman slammed 411 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2021 at an average of 31.61, with 1 century and 1 half-century. The 21-year-old batsman was not retained by RCB for the next season and will be part of the 2022 mega auction.
